“BIT- Quite, Serene and Rejuvenating”
Bannari Amman Institute of Technology –a premier autonomous institute located in the southern part of India boasts of a beautiful green campus. It is located in the foothills of Eastern Ghats and on the banks of river Bhavani. The campus is situated far from the hustle and bustle of city life to provide the perfect backdrop for learning in harmony with nature.
The architectural design of the academic blocks with long corridors and quadrangles with green plants highlight the vision of our beloved Chairman, Dr S V Balasubramaniam, to be in close consonance with nature.
BIT exhibits a Zen green campus, with different varieties of plants and shrubs. A lot of Neem trees are planted on the campus to make the air more pure and clean inside the campus. The campus is a host to more than 30 species of birds and also attracts some migratory birds. The entire campus wears a flamboyant look during the spring season with Copperpod and Gulmohar in full bloom.
One can find a lot of tropical and ornamental plants inside the campus. Flowers like Plumeria, Night Jasmine and Helicopter flowers (popularly known as Madhavi Lata) create a fresh positive vibe inside the campus. Plumeria plants can be seen in almost all academic blocks where both pink and white varieties are planted. These lovely flowers render a rich aroma throughout the campus.
The annual celebrations on our campus are incomplete without planting a sapling by the chief guest. These plants are then nurtured and taken care of.
A very distinctive observation in our beautiful campus is the intricate and colourful Rangolis at the entrance of the blocks. This reveals our ethnic heritage and rich culture. BIT has taken immense steps to sustain the environment.
Zero wastage, solar panels, water conservation, biogas plant, rainwater harvesting, and sewage treatment plant are some of the initiatives taken by the management for environmental protection. Our administration has taken strenuous measures to maintain campus pollution-free. Plastic usage is completely banned inside the campus.
The Department of Agricultural Engineering cultivates organic vegetables which are sold for quarters inmates and are used in the hostel mess.
BIT is the impeccable illustration of a healthy rejuvenating ambience which promotes holistic development for young learners.
In short, BIT campus is a paradise for nature lovers.
