BITians win Grand Prize at “Smart India Hackathon 2019”
Bannari Amman Institute of Technology undergrads students crew has won grand prize in the “Smart India Hackathon 2019” for unmanned underwater vehicle.
It’s a nationwide hackathon to provide students a platform to solve some of the drastic problems faced in our daily lives, and thus instil a practice of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving.
The National level grand event was organised by the Ministry of HRD, AICTE, Persistent Systems, i4c and Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini. The grand finale for this event was held at IIT Roorkee from 08/07/2019 to 12/07/2019.
The unmanned underwater vehicle was developed by our BITians, Dhayanandhan C, Vignesh S, Subasree SR, Sriram N , Abarna A, Sudhakar K under the command of student mentor D.Selvamuthukumaran.
The vehicle collects floating waste on the static water bodies and send contemporary information about quality maintenance via sensors. The strategy adopted was to work out a solution to the constraints people facing in their life everyday.
The project was initiated by the guidance from MTS India Section and BIT Unmanned Underwater Vehicle – Applied Lab. The team members of BIT- MTS Student Section have made tremendous efforts day and night on the five-day hackathon event.
Among the 16 teams from all-over India, BITians won the first prize of Rs. 1,00,000 under the “Smart Cities” category. The team received the prize from Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee.
Success is delivered only to the deserving. Congratulations to the Team on their newly found achievement!!
