The mystery of talking plants
The mystery of talking plants
Expression of plants
Do plants have feelings? Do plants see, smell, and move? Do plants hear and make a sound? Do plants have memory? Do plants detect their neighbors? We know everything about humans; we have six senses and a step over plants and animals. By using that 6th sense, smart humans make plants intelligent. Now the final question to answer, Do plants communicate with each other? Do plants talk? Imagine, if plants were able to talk to us, it means what they’re going to talk about? Human beings from all over the world speak different languages on the basis of their lifestyles. In what language does a plant speak? Whether it has a mouth to talk to? Obviously, the Combo of science and engineering answered these questions. A project is known as Florence that builds the bridge of communication between plants and humans.
The researchers planned to keep the communication system for Plants. Each plant communication system is made of sensors connected to a computer. The sensor module includes a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, a soil moisture sensor, a gas sensor, etc. After a message is typed into a terminal, it is encoded into light pulses for the plant to understand. In humans, Dopamine is a hormone that reflects positive thoughts and Serotonin is a hormone that reflects negative thoughts. Like humans with mixed emotions, Positive sentiments of plants were reflected by the red light spectrum that gives enthusiasm for its growing cells and negative sentiments were reflected by the blue light spectrum. The plant responds back with its own electric signal. This information is then translated into a contextualized response.
Here goes the 4 E’s of communication with Plants…
1. Encourage
Encouraging is the art of giving people hope to achieve more. People won’t give it, but they’ll expect it. So to encourage plant growth, communication between plants and humans is important. It helps to identify the mood swing of Plants and may avoid the pest infestation at its earlier stages itself. Agriculture turns to more sustainable and friendly approaches leads to more crop yields. Exploring intelligent projects like this will give value addition to human lives.
2. Excuse
You may ask for an excuse if you recognize the poor mood of a plant due to fatigue or thirst. It is your error to delay water shedding. By comparing a plant with a newborn baby, the shedding of water at a particular time is as important as feeding the baby. Careful handling is also an essential feature. Asking excuses for a mistake creates a strong belief among friends, father-daughter relation, and mother-son relation. So excusing each other creates a strong bond between human and plant.
3. Educate
As Malcolm .S Forbes quoted that, “The purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one”. By educating positive thoughts to plants, creates positive vibes in and around it. Educate the ethical things to face challenges in all difficult times like drought, floods, etc. Educate the plant via signals on how to protect from insecticide, climate change, pests, etc. Educate their importance on the Earth and how human beings rely on plants. Green energy technology plays a vital role in future generations.
4. Explore
Exploring many projects like Florence connects the natural to the digital world and hopes to better understand the best of both worlds. The combo of science and engineering may explore things beyond thinking that ultimately aim to give meaning to other lives that are considered as perfect exploration. If the combo destroys the life of any matter, it is considered to be an imperfect exploration. Perfect exploration will lift the world to the right path with all health and wealth.
“Trees are my guru. They continue to give unconditionally even when you pelt them with stones to take their fruit, and even if you cut them down. Trees give life. Let’s reciprocate that. Plant more trees” – A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
