The Hindi Advantage
The Hindi Advantage
A working knowledge of Hindi is advantageous to travel or transact businesses in different states of India. Being an official language, it also gives access to various facilities and knowledge about the policies and schemes of the Government of India. It is a known fact that the Government is keen to promote Hindi.
Despite the political and cultural connotations that prevail against imposing Hindi, the knowledge of the language per se has its own advantage, especially for career enhancement and business transactions.
Ethnologue lists Hindi as the third widely spoken language in the world, with 637 million speakers, only behind English and Mandarin Chinese. Hindi is immensely helpful for those who wish to travel the length and breadth of India or work in most parts of the country.
It is also the preferred language for business across the nation. Moreover, those who seek employment in government services find working knowledge of Hindi to be handy while being deputed at different states.
Hindi is also learnt by speakers of other languages in India who aspire to enrol in the prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, IIMs, etc., and by those who wish to take up Civil Services examinations and other Competitive Examinations. Some of the other popular employers who prefer Hindi are Armed Services, Railways, and Banking Sector.
Established in 1918 by the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha propagates Hindi language learning in South India. It offers courses and conducts certification examinations from the beginner level to the advanced level. The exams include:
