Reality shows
Reality shows manage to capture loyal fan following that guarantees high TV ratings”.
Reality shows is a genre of television programming that documents supposedly unscripted real-life situations and often features an otherwise unknown cast of individuals who are typically not professional actors. reality television shows exploded as a phenomenon in the late 1990s and early 2000s with the global success of the series survivor, idols and big brothers. Reality TV has faced significant criticism since its rise in popularity. Much of the criticism has centered on the use of the world “reality”, and such shows attempts to present themselves as a straightforward recounting of events that have occurred.
It manages to pull the wool over our eyes, because the truth is it looks very like reality, very much like your own life, different to celebrity culture. you are tricked into believing its true. Only when you look a bit closer, you realize that everything is blown way put of proportion. There are some of the advantages in reality shows. The talented people can get a chance to showcase their talent to much wider audience. It inspires the masses top see someone from humble background doing well in those shows. But the disadvantage is that they are not as real as they say it to be. They are mostly scripted. Quite a few shows such as Big boss focuses on negativity for publicity. A few shows exposes the participants to embarrassment. It feels wrong to do so far our own amusement.
“Reality shows are all the rage on TV at the moment ,
but that’s not reality,
its just another aesthetic form of fiction”.
