Next big Himalayan Quakes
An Earthquakes similar to one that struck the Himalayas five centuries ago could kill almost 600,000 people in the region today , most of them in India . The Indian plate of Earth’s crust rams into the Eurasian plate , pushing the Himalayas upwards and raising the large Earthquakes , such as the risk magnitude 7.8 Quake in Nepal that killed about 10,000 people . The Himalayas block the Northward Monsoonal Winds from the Indian ocean during June to September , resulting in extreme precipitation on the Southern slopes that fills up rivers of the Ganges basin , Increasing the pressure bearing down on the region. Most earthquakes are caused by movement of the Earth’s tectonic plates, Human activity can also produce Earthquakes. The Earthquakes has been reported to be spawned from a fault that reactivated due to the millions of tonnes of rock removed in the mining process.
