Introduction
Liquid Crystal Research Laboratory (LCRL) inaugurated by our beloved Chairman Sri S V Balasubramaniam in the year 2004 at our Institute is a premier research the laboratory which caters the academic needs in the field of thermotropic liquid crystals. The primary aim of LCRL is to carry out funded research projects, train manpower establishes the state-of-art instrumentation required to carry out research in the frontier areas of thermotropic liquid crystals. LCRL also envisages in the dissemination of knowledge through organizing sponsored national conferences,/seminars periodically.
Seminars/Conferences/STTP conducted
LCRL-BIT has conducted several sponsored national, international conferences in the field of liquid crystals since its inception. The details are appended below:
1) AICTE sponsored National Seminar: 23-25 January 2008
Liquid Crystal Research Laboratory (LCRL) conducted an AICTE sponsored National Seminar at BIT during 23-25 January 2008. The title of the seminar is: “Engineering of display devices: Liquid Crystal displays”. Dr Sasidharan Nair was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the seminar. 12 lectures were delivered by prominent scientists during this seminar. The seminar was well attended by more than 100 participates from various institutes of all the four southern states of India. The valediction address was given by Prof Dr Krushna Kumar i/c Vice-Chancellor of Periyar University.
2) AICTE-ISTE STTP Display device Engineering 23-27 June 2008
Liquid Crystal Research Laboratory (LCRL) conducted an AICTE-ISTE sponsored Short Term Training Programme at BIT during 23-27 Jun 2008. Prof Dr D P Ojha of Sambalpur University, Inaugurated the event. Participants were drawn from seven states. Dr Srinivasulu/ MAHE, Dr Potukuchi, JNTU, Dr Ajeetha, CEMET were the Professors who delivered lecturers.
3) SERB National Conference Sep. 28-30 2016
Liquid Crystal Research Laboratory (LCRL) conducted a SERB sponsored National Conference on Liquid Crystal Nano Science 2016 at BIT during 28-30 September 2016. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent his message and wishes to this conference. Prof Dr Muralidharan, Head/Physics dept., Gandhigram University inaugurated this conference. Forty papers were presented in this conference by national and international researchers. Conference proceedings were released.
4) BRNS National Conference Aug. 23-25 2018
Liquid Crystal Research Laboratory (LCRL) conducted a BRNS sponsored National Conference on Liquid Crystal Nano Science 2018 at BIT during 23-25 August 2018. Researchers from several Institutes covering 12 states participated in this event. The conference was inaugurated by Dr Sandeep Kumar of Raman Research Institute. 13 research papers were presented. Prof Dr Hemalatha, Head Physics dept., NIT, Tiruchirappalli gave the valediction address.
5) International Conference on Liquid Crystals, Liquid Crystalline Polymers and Nanosystems 13-15 December 2019
Liquid Crystal Research Laboratory (LCRL) in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and Kerala organized this conference at M.G. University. 50 participants from various countries presented their research along with 50 selected participants from India covering all geographical regions.
