Forget The Rules! If You Like It, Wear It – BANEWZ’19

We’ve probably heard the saying that “fashion is art.” And that is no more a truism than at a fashion show.

Fashion shows are not events that designers use to showcase what you’ll be able to buy in stores the very next day. Instead, a fashion show is a chance for a designer to show off a particular aesthetic, a particular mood, a particular feel or point of view. As a result, fashion shows can tend to be more conceptual and focused on a higher level idea.

BANEWZ’ 19 – The BIT Fashion Show

Bannari Amman Institute of Technology had conducted the International level Fashion Show BANEWZ ‘19, which was held at BIT Vedhanayagam Auditorium, on 1st August 2019.

The costumes designed by Indian and New Zealand students were showcased in this show by models.

15 students from Newzealand had come to Bannari Amman Institute of Technology for training in costume designing. The costumes they designed were also staged in the show.

Principal Dr C. Palanisamy welcomed the gatherers. The show was graced by the chief guest Mrs Universe East Asia 2018, Dr Gayathri Natarajan.

Trustee, Dr M. P. Vijayakumar rendered the special Address, in that he talked about the importance of the costume designing industry. He also added that this kind of fashion shows will manifest our Indian culture and tradition in international stages.

The chief guest Mrs Gayathri Natarajan delivered the chief guest address. She said, “The silk, linen and cotton dresses are famous on an international level. People in many countries showing a great interest in learning our Indian culture, tradition and heritage.” She also expressed that fashion shows help the students to enhance their artistic sense.

The first prize was given to the students from KLE’ S. S. Ninjalingappa College, Bangalore. They were awarded the cash prize Rs.25000/-  with Trophy and Certificates.

The 2nd Prize was given to students from SSM College of Arts of Science, Komarapalayam with the cash prize Rs.15000/- with Trophy and Certificates.

Another Chief guest Mr Feroz Ali, Director of whitecliffe Fashion Tech, New Zealand appreciated the students. 

Dr K Saravanan, Head of the Department, Fashion Technology, delivered the vote of thanks.
