Automobile Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals everything about automobiles that includes designing, developing, manufacturing, testing and repairing and servicing automobiles such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, scooters etc & the related sub-Engineering systems.
An Automobile engineer must organize multiple elements of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software engineering, safety, and environmental aspects into his work. It’s a quite challenging and interesting job. Automobile Engineering deals with the producing and maintaining the automobiles, designing and manufacturing components, mobilizing and testing them for safety. Automotive engineers can design new vehicles or look for ways to improve existing automotive engineering technology.
The automobile industry is one of the fastest growing industries in India. There is an abundant rise in automobile manufacturing units all over India. It’s proud to say that “India is the 7th largest manufacturer in the world”. The sector needs professionals with course cracking ideas for the production of more such advanced machines.
Automobile Engineers are mainly classified into three streams like Product or Design Engineers, Development Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers. Product Engineers or Design Engineers deal with the designing and testing of the components and systems of automobiles. They design and test each part of the visualized automobile, seeing that it meets all requirements, performs as required, that the material meets desired durability, and so on.
Manufacturing Engineers deal with activities like how to plan and assemble the whole parts of automobiles. They have to design and layout the equipment, machine rates and line rates, the requirement of automation equipment, and manufacturing safety procedures.
Development engineers deal with attaching all systems in a completed automobile. They have the responsibility for handling the delivery of the engineering elements of a complete automobile as ordered by the automobile manufacturer, governmental regulations, and the customer who investment the product. Development Engineers have to provide the Production Engineer particulars about the spring rate that he would want to promote in the vehicle.

AUTOMOTIVE COMPONENTS LABORATORY
The Automotive Components laboratory which is one of the important laboratories in the Automobile Engineering was established in the year 2014. The automotive components lab has equipped with Multi-cylinder engine, Four wheel drive and Air brake system, etc. The lab includes both academic and research-based equipment in order to experience the skill of dismantling and assembling of Engines, Engine components, and Chassis Components.
Major Equipment: Multi Cylinder Petrol Engine 2Multi Cylinder Diesel Engine, 3Front axle, Rear axle, Differential, Clutch and Gearbox (light duty, heavy duty), Steering System, Air Brake System, Four Wheel Drive, Petrol fuel systems, Diesel fuel systems.
FUELS AND LUBRICANTS TESTING LABORATORY
This laboratory helps to produce highly focused independent practical skills on fuels and lubricants among students. It also serves the students to determine the properties of several fuels and lubricants; compare them with standards so as to get an idea about its quality. This lab will supplement theoretical inputs in the Automotive Fuels and Lubricants testing laboratory course.
Major Equipments: Fuel Analysis Test Apparatus (Orsat Gas Apparatus), Flash and Fire point Apparatus (Cleveland’s Flash and Fire point Apparatus), Aniline point Apparatus, Reid Vapour Pressure Test Apparatus, Bomb Calorimeter + Digital Weighing Balance (0.1g to 2kg) + Oxygen Cylinder (2 Cu.m), Carbon Residue Test Apparatus (Rams Bottom), Copper Stir Corrosion Test Apparatus, Cloud and Pourpoint Apparatus with Refrigerator unit, Redwood Viscometer (Digital), Saybolt Viscometer (Digital), ASTM Distillation Apparatus (Petroleum Distillation with Energy Regulator), Ash Content Test Apparatus.
COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN AND ANALYSIS LABORATORY
Computer-aided design and analysis laboratory was established in the year 2016 provides faculty and students to Design, Analysis, and simulation of automobile components. The lab having academic and research-based license software to solve structural, Thermal, electromagnetic and fluid flow problems.

ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND EMISSION TESTING LABORATORY
The engine performance and emission testing laboratory which is one of the important laboratories in the Automobile Engineering department was launched in 2016, provides faculty and students with resources to conduct experimental research on internal combustion engines. The lab includes both academic and research-based equipment in order to study the combustion characteristics, engine performance, and emission measurement. All the engines are equipped with eddy current dynamometers which increase the loading accuracy.
Major Equipment: Two-wheeler SI engine test rig with eddy current loading, Automotive multi-cylinder SI engine test rig with heat balance arrangement and eddy current dynamometer, Automotive multi-cylinder CI engine test rig with heat balance arrangement and eddy current dynamometer, Five gas analyzer, Diesel Smoke meter, Combustion analyzer DAQ with all accessories and software.
AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS LABORATORY
Automotive electrical and electronics laboratory established in the year 2016 for Academic Purposes. It focused the students to recognize charging, starting, ignition, accessory-circuit components, their functions, maintenance procedures, varieties of automotive wiring, types of terminals, and wiring diagrams.
Major Equipment: Auto electrical test bench, Four stroke multi-cylinder diesel engine trainer rig with fault simulation board digital storage oscilloscope, Open source microcontroller board, Mpfi technology air-fuel mixture prototype, Digital storage oscilloscope, High rate discharge battery tester, Wire harness diagnostic kit.
VEHICLE SERVICING AND TESTING LABORATORY
Automobile Department having a vehicle servicing and testing lab facility with highly sophisticated testing instruments. This lab is useful for the complete servicing of two and four wheelers. It is having a car with onboard diagnosis equipment.
Major Equipment: Cylinder Reboring Machine, Valve Grinding Machine, Valve lapping machine, Spark plug Tester, Computerized two-wheeler chassis Dynamometer, Computerized Wheel Alignment Machine, Computerized wheel balancing Machine, Automatic Tyre remover, A car with the onboard diagnosis.
