Consistency – Is it required?
The word ‘CONSISTENT’ means something that is done in a same manner over a period of time. Okay, why it is necessary and where it has to be practised? First, let us know why we need to have consistency. It is necessary so that the act we carry out will be fair and accurate. It brings perfection (though, no one can be 100% perfect!) in the work we carry out.
Next, moving on to the application area, consistency is being practised everywhere in our day-to-day life, sometimes even without our attention being given to it! YES, you heard it right. Just think of your daily routine – starting from getting out of bed in the morning till you go back to bed at night. The way you brush your teeth, the way you take bath – each one has different pattern of lathering from head to toe, the way you pat yourself dry with towel everything will be the same over the years without even giving your attention to it. The pattern is registered in your subconscious memory, so your hands move around automatically to the registered pattern. Next step you do is getting ready for your day! The way you comb your hair (Awww! Those perfect lines that is created by your comb!!!) is like a trademark of yours!! You want that to be the same whenever you appear in front of the mirror. After you suit up well yourself, you move on to have your breakfast. Yourself or your family member would have prepared the menu for you. Think of those hot Idlis / Dosas / Rotis made for you along with your favourite Dal and Chutney (Yummmiieeee!!!! right??). Those yummy feelings are registered in your mind with a particular taste and smell. What if that taste you experience today is differing from that of the taste you experienced earlier? If its not finger licking good, you will end up eating very less. Your mind may go upset that it is not the same. In contrast, if it very tasty, you end eating more what you can actually eat and have a fuller stomach and heart with happiness!!! It is because the taste and smell you experienced today was as same as or much better than that is registered in your memory. I can quote a lot of things like this. But, to put in short, I would like to convey that consistency is achieved over a period of time by practising it daily, so that it becomes your habit and you end doing it without even putting your mind into it (Of course, our brain is a weirdo!!!).
These activities are not of much importance to put your effort into. But, think of your family members, your colleagues, your friends, relatives, neighbours whom you are interacting with on a daily basis. Think of your job tasks being carried out on a daily basis. If your emotions are consistent – you will not face any issues with your known circles. You will be tagged as a “Matured” person and Trust is built upon you (added advantage!!!). If the way you carry out your job-related activities is consistent (in a productive manner though!!), your boss will be happy with you. You will be tagged as a ‘Role Model’. If you are running a business and the quality of the products or services you offer is consistent over a period of time, your customers will be loyal to you and they may even market your product or service to their circle (word-of-mouth marketing!). If you want to lose weight, the exercise, diet, lifestyle you follow for it must be consistent (except on Cheat days!) and as I told earlier, it must become your habit. Eventually you will see a healthier and fitter version of yourself physically and mentally.
So, all these imply one thing. You have to be stable in your stand and firmly believe that it is moving on in a right direction towards success in your life and career. This consistency bring perfection in your life and career and will motivate you to eventually progress much better. It will motivate you in a positive way and will not put a pressure on you (unless you do it for name sake). You will become an inspiration to many people out there!!! Think of those who are/were being successful in their career and life. They would have one thing in common – CONSISTENCY. It made them to be successful.
A word of caution!!! Consistency in practising obsolete methods may end up in a not so good situation. Always have in mind, you cannot stand still once you reach the first place. People behind you will walk past you, if they are progressively consistent. So, to keep hold onto your place in the world, you need to keep moving with constructive consistency.
Finally, with a positive note, I conclude that CONSISTENCY BRINGS YOU SUCCESS when it becomes your habit or lifestyle without even giving attention to it. You can be consistent and you can make others also to be consistent. Of course, emotions are also contagious!
Have a great day!!!
