From room-size mega boxes to desktops, and from laptops to our pockets, the computer has evolved in the past sixty years.

The field of computer science is becoming increasingly important as the economy becomes more dependent on computers and the Internet.

With wearable computers, embeddable chips, smart appliances, and other advances in progress and on the horizon, the journey towards building smarter, faster and more capable computers is clearly just beginning.

Evolution of computer

As this process is happening, computer hardware and software technology are rapidly increasing in power and sophistication. Because the changes are happening so quickly, According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the field of computer science is projected to grow by 24 percent over the next 10 years, making it one of the fastest-growing professions in the global economy.

Most jobs in the near future will require some knowledge of Computer programming. The field of computer science is set to become more important, sophisticated and specialized in the coming years.

In the foreseeable future, the field of computer science is set to change dramatically.

Integration of Business system with Computer Field

When the computers were introduced onto the scene, the business world changed forever. Businesses can utilize information technology through the use of computers and different software to run their operations in a smoother fashion. They use it in different departments, including finance, manufacturing, human resources, and security.

Technology gave us the opportunity to see things from a new perspective, and to approach what we were already doing from a general perspective. Technology also gave us greater efficiency for conducting business.

With more innovation in technology, new businesses are created. With more business, technology comes to the rescue by making things easier. The two exist in something of a symbiotic relationship that ensures they will always coexist.

Computer Science and Business Systems – An Under Graduate Course by TCS

To address the growing need of engineering talent with skills in digital technology, TCS, in partnership with leading academicians across India, has designed a curriculum for 4 years undergraduate program on Computer Science titled “Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS)”.

This curriculum aims to ensure that the students graduating from the program not only know the core topics of Computer Science but also develop an equal appreciation of humanities, management sciences and human values.

The students are also exposed to emerging topics such as Analytics, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things etc to make them industry-ready at the end of four years of study.

The course focuses on enhancing the following key attributes among graduating students:

      • Understanding of Contemporary Technology
      • Understanding of Technology Abstraction
      • Knowledge of Common Business Principles
      • Business Discipline and Service Orientation
      • Innovation Ability
      • Strong in Ethics and Life Values

This curriculum has been approved by the Executive Committee of AICTE. The Course has been listed as a standard B.Tech course on the AICTE portal from the 2019-20 academic year.

“The course will have subjects on the latest technologies such as big data, design thinking and machine learning. A lot of engineering graduates are not good at communication skills. Hence, we have introduced these subjects. Students who complete the course successfully will be preferred for recruitment in the company.– said Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, global vice-president, Human Resources, TCS.

Why Should You Prefer B. Tech CSBS?

Scope for Computer Science and Business Systems

CSBS – a brand new and an advanced branch in engineering. Below are the few points that will motivate anyone to choose the course:

  1. The syllabus is prepared based more on skills than theory which most of the big MNCs require. So that skilful engineers will be produced and not bookworms, which will make you stand out from the crowd.
  2. Business-related topics like humanities, management science were added instead of other topics which would help students to enhance their skills in multiple fields.
  3. The course is designed so that skilled engineers and not bookworms are produced, which make you stand out from the crowd of CSE students.
  4. Finally, students who complete the course successfully will be prefered for recruitment by TCS. It’s one of a great deal right!
