Sports at BIT
In today’s fast-paced world students work hard to achieve their objectives. They leave home early in the morning without having breakfast and attend lectures on it. This way they might achieve their objective of getting fantastic grades in exams but their overall health gets hit pretty much, and they might experience problems like obesity and weakness.
Student leading such life might be heading in a direction where their health and education both get hit.
Our Bannari Amman Institute of Technology always strives to help our students to avoid these risks by promoting the benefits of physical education through various sports activities.
At BIT, students are encouraged to play daily in the vast college ground to be more energetic and strong. Students can access a plethora of outdoor games like football, handball, cricket, basketball, and martial arts, etc. we also have indoor game facilities like Table Tennis, caroms, etc.
The sports activities that have been held at BIT, helps our students for having a healthy college life.
To make the academic session interesting, annual Sports Day celebrations are held yearly.
Sports Day Celebration @ BIT
To celebrate the 24th Annual Sports Day of our BIT, a majestic sports spectacle was organized at Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, on March 6, 2020, in which the students participated with great zeal and manifested their athletic skills with an unimpeachable finesse.
The Chief Guest Thiru C Radha Krishnan, General Manager, Bannari Amman Sugars, Sathyamangalam honoured the occasion.
The revered chief guest hoisted the flag, marking the commencement of the Sports Day fete.
Dr C Palanisamy, Principal presided over the function.
In his address, he appreciated the students for their incremental changes in academics, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. He opined that when students participate in sports, they learn to tackle difficult situations in their life. He also wished the students to achieve greater heights in future.
The one-day sports meet involved the enthusiastic participation of all the students of BIT, where active participation was seen. The students also showcased a huge range of reverberant events of martial art activities.
The March Fast and Silambam by the students attracted the audience.
After the customary invocation, Ms Saranya Devi S, Final year, B. Tech, women sports secretary welcomed the esteemed gathering.
Dr R Jeyaraman, Physical Director delivered the annual Sports report for the year 2019–2020.
The Champs
The ground was filled with glee and excitement as Dr K Amirthavalli, Assistant physical Director of BIT, announced the winners and awardees of the 24th Annual Sports events. The winners of the various events were awarded trophies, medals and certificates by the chief guest.
The institute achieved Second Place in overall Games and Sports Achievements for the year 2019-2020 among the zone – 12 Colleges of Anna University, Chennai. The Overall Championship in women section was won by Ms K Kavya and men section by Mr V Manikanda Prabhu.
Ms T R S Dhakshinya, III B Tech, IT and Mr S Sri Vishnu Prabha, III BE EEE represented for Anna University Women Chess Team secured Bronze Medal in the All India Inter-University Tournament held at Kallinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar and fourth place in the South Zone Inter-University Tournament held at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Andra Pradesh.
BIT Celebrates Sports
BIT organized 33 rd Tamilnadu State Open Junior Championship 2019, between 6 th and 8 th October 2019, more than 3000 participants from all over Tamilnadu participated. Dr C Sylendra Babu, IPS, DGP Railways and Padmashri Shiny Wilson, Olympian graced this championship as Chief Guests. The Institute is the Anna University 12 Sports Coordinating Centre for this academic year.
The Department of Physical Education and the Management of BIT organized Sports day celebration successfully and completed all the events in a well manner. The maximum number of students took part in all the events.
The annual sports day came to an end by the vote of gratitude delivered by the Men Sports Secretary Mr M Suraj Kumar, Final year – B. Tech Mechatronics, leaving thrilling memories in the hearts of each and everyone present over there.
