Winter Solstice is also known as midwinter, is an astronomical phenomenon marking the day with the shortest period of day light and the longest night of the Year. It occurs when one of the Earth’s poles has its best tilt away from the sun. It happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere. Today December 21, Friday the Winter Solstice starts nation in the Northern Hemisphere will mark the Winter Solstice the shortest day and longest night of the year. Even though the winter Solstice takes place once a year in each hemisphere the solstice this year is particularly special as much anticipated December full moon, named the Cold Moon will be visible in the night sky along with the Ursid , meteor shower.
