Railways To Transport Relief Materials Free Of Cost

Indian Railway has permitted free transportation of relief materials in goods trains and parcel vans to the cyclone Gaya affected districts in the State. A press relief from Salem railway division said that the railways had permitted inter- state and intra- state free transport for aid and relief materials to the severe cyclonic storm affected districts. The release said that all government organisations across the country can book relief materials free of cost to the affected districts. Other organisations as deemed fit by Divisional railway managers may also avail this provision. All such Consignment in passengers carrying trains through parcel vans as well as intra sate coaching trains carrying relief materials shall be covered under these guidelines of free transportation to cyclone hit districts. The divisions have been empowered to take decisions on further necessary action,including attaching additional coaches vans to various Tamil Nadu bound trains, till December 10, the release added.
