The Commercial Department of Southern Railway developed an app on Android platform. The Railway officials says gaining momentum with more and more Rail users downloading it . According to the officials in Salem Railway Division rail partner app is a cut about all other privately managed apps on rails services because of its authenticity and accuracy. The app is user friendly and the visually challenged users can activate the talk- back facility in their smart phone. Giving regular informations such as PNR status, train schedules and spot your train. Rail partner gives the customers full details of the Chennai suburban services and special trains.
The app helps the customers register demand for special trains , book a coach (or) to inform railways about large gatherings that are being organized, which require Railway’s services. The app provides direct call facilities for 20 most commonly required help lines and support services in all divisions such as on board medical assistance, RPF, GRP, Women helpline, E- Catering, Child helpline, UTS-on- Mobile and Vigilance. The user’s preferred route is also provided and a menu listing for all special trains. The Official says this app will be more reliable and an easy platform better than SMS alerts (or) emails. At Railway station the officials plan to popularize the app by giving the information on the printed tickets besides publishing. They also plan to make this app available on other platforms as well in near future.
