Sport is a physical exercise that helps us to live a healthy and happy life. It may be in-door or outdoor game, we can play as an individual or as a team. In India, national game is hockey but most of the people like cricket, it’s being covered and touched by the audience most. In cricket we are having one day, test and T20 series, among them T20 matches are seen by more people, especially IPL. In IPL, we are having currently 8 teams namely Chennai Super kings, Mumbai Indians, Royal challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrises Hyderabad.
AUCTIONS
Each team will have minimum of 16 players and maximum of 25 players. A Playing team can have 4 overseas players in their playing eleven while the remaining seven are Indian players. Every year we can withhold a maximum of 8 foreign players from the last year auction. Each player has to be in a team for three continuous years as a bond. Auction takes place on an open platform with no restrictions, if a player is not taken by any team then that particular player will be placed in a final set.
TEAMS & THEIR HOME GROUND
Earlier we had ten teams, later due to some issues few of them no longer exist. Teams include Rajasthan royals (RR), Chennai super kings (CSK), Kolkata knight riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Dardevils (DD), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Royal challengers Bangalore (RCB), Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH), Deccan Charges (DC), Pune warriors India(PW), Kochi tuskers Kerala (KTK), Rising Pune supergiant (RPS) , Gujarat Lions (GL). Home grounds of the respective teams are given below:
- Rajasthan royals – Sawai Mansingh Stadium
- Chennai super kings – M. A. Chidambaram Stadium
- Kolkata knight riders – Eden Gardens
- Mumbai Indians – Wankhede Stadium
- Delhi capitals – Feroz Shah Kotla
- Kings XI Punjab -IS Bindra Stadium
- Royal challengers Bangalore – M. Chinnaswamy Stadium
- Sunrises Hyderabad – Rajiv Gandhi Intl. Cricket Stadium
MATCH RULES
- The match is played between two teams, each team has 11 players including a captain and four substitute player for each match.If any of the selected players got injured then the captain has a right to choose a substitute player from the four.
- Each player has to follow the rules of IPL & BCCI that includes the clothing, equipment regulations, and the conduct of both team and the players. If captain of a team is not available, then deputy captain will lead a team in respect to all the aspects.
- Umpire and Referee decision is final in-case of no ball, wickets and in runs declaration
- On the grounds of a tie or bad weather conditions the super over will take place. The fielding restrictions are same, the team batting second should be played first in super over, the team will play for one over. Suppose within that one over if a batting team loses two wickets then the chance will be given to opposite team.
- Suppose there is tie in super over then, the team which scored most boundaries will be the winner of the match.
SEASONS & WINNERS
Inaugural season of IPL was on April 2008 and the title was bagged by Rajasthan Royals which was led by Steve smith and the Runner was CSK. The top wicket taking bowler will receive “Purple Cap”, it was won by Sohail Tanvir from RR. Highest / leading run scorer will receive “Orange Cap”, it was bagged by Shaun Marsh from KXIP and the Man of the series Shane Watson from RR.
The second season was held on 2009, title winner was Deccan Charges under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist. Runner was Royal challengers Bangalore, Purple cap winner RP Singh from (DC) & Orange cap holder Matthew Hayden (CSK). Man of the series was Adam Gilchrist from DC.
The third Season was held on 2010, and the title went to CSK, this team is headed by Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MSD). Runner was Mumbai Indians, the purple cap and orange cap went to Pragyan Ojha from (DC) and Sachin Tendulkar respectively. Man of the series was also Sachin Tendulkar from MI
The Fourth Season was held on 2011 and the title was with the same team Chennai Super Kings, headed by MSD. Runner was Royal Challengers Bangalore, during that session the most wicket taker was Lasith Malinga from MI.Both the Orange cap holder and the Man of the series was bagged by Chris Gayle from KKR
Fifth Season’s final was between KKR and CSK during 2012, during that time the title was bagged by KKR headed by Gautam Gambhir. Runner was CSK, Purple cap was won by Morne Morkel of DD and the orange cap by Chris Gayle. Man of the series was Sunil Narine from KKR
Sixth Season was held on 2013, the final match was between MI and CSK where MI defended CSK. Man of the series was bagged by Shane Watson from RR, purple cap was owned by Dwayne Bravo (CSK) and the orange cap by Michael Hussey (CSK)
Next season of IPL was held on 2014 , the final was between KKR and KXIP, the winner was KKR headed by Gautam Gambhir. The player of the series was Glenn Maxwell from KXIP, the purple cap was owned by Mohit Sharma from CSK and orange cap by Robin Uthappa from KKR
Eighth season was held on 2015, the final match was between MI and CSK. The winner was MI headed by Rohit Sharma, the player of the series was Andre Russell (KKR) and the purple cap was bagged by Dwayne Bravo (CSK) and the orange cap by David warner from SRH
Coming to Ninth season, it was held on 2016,finals was between SRH and RCB, the winner was SRH headed by David warner. Player of the series was Virat Kohli (RCB) and the purple cap was holded by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (SRH) and the orange cap by Virat Kohli (RCB)
Tenth season was held on 2017, MI and RPS played final match, winner was MI headed by Rohit Sharma.Man of the match was Ben Stokes(RPS) and the purple cap was owned by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (SRH) and the orange cap by David warner from SRH
Eleventh season was held on 2018, the finals was between CSK and SRH, the winner was CSK headed by MSD.Man of the series was bagged by Sunil Narine from KKR and the purple cap by Andrew Tye (KXIP) and the orange cap by Kane Williamson (SRH)
Twelveth season was held on 2019, the final was between MI and CSK, the winner was MI, the purple cap holder was Imran Tahir (CSK) and the orange cap by David warner from SRH and the man of the series by Andre Russell (KKR)
And we are all waiting the current season to host!!!
CONCLUSION
As many of the Indians like cricket, it’s the most viewed sports in our country and also many sponsors for this game, especially for IPL. Title is being sponsored by VIVO electronics and co-sponsors are Airtel, PepsiCo, Dream11, Paytm, etc.
