An Equal World is Enabled World – International Women’s Day 2020 @ BIT
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, reflect on progress and demand gender equality. The day belongs to everyone who believes that women’s rights are human rights.
Along with millions of people around the globe, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology also celebrated the International Women’s Day on Sunday, 8th March 2020, at BIT Main Auditorium.
The Women Development Cell of Bannari Amman Institute of Technology has organized a special programme to commemorate the 25th International Women’s Day.
The Chief Guest Dr Nandhini Rangaswamy, Chairperson & Founder Trustee, GRG Institutions, Coimbatore, honoured the function. Thiru S V Balasubramaniam, Chairman BIT, presided over the function.
Dr C Palanisamy, Principal welcomed the gathering, in his speech he stressed that the door of happiness can only be opened by women.
Ms K Ishavardhini, Student Coordinator WDC-BIT, presented the annual report spotlighting the progress of BIT-Women’s Development Cell throughout the year.
Our respected Chairman Thiru S V Balasubramaniam presided over the function. In the presidential address, he quoted the Jewish proverb that “God could not be everywhere, so he created women.” And

Dr M P Vijayakumar, The Trustee extended the Special Address. He stated that “International Women’s Day” is celebrated in order to ensure equality, in addition, he stated that women need more financial liberation and only 27% of women workforce exists. He highlighted men and women need to share all the responsibilities hand in hand.
During the Chief Guest address Dr Nandhini Rangaswamy, elaborated on the various achievements of women in India. She quoted from Mahatma Gandhi that “You must be the change you wish to see in the world”. Women have played a pivotal role in all these ages contributing to society and they need to leave a mark on society. She concluded by saying
“Associate with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company”.
During the auspicious event Ms Geetha Nagu, Joint Managing Director St Angelos VNCT ventures, Ms L N Revathy, Deputy Editor The Hindu Business lines were honoured with The Women of Excellence award and BIT Alumnae members, Ms T Radhika, Managing Director Unijet Pneumatics Pvt, Ltd, Coimbatore, Ms Vidhya Bhojan, Manager, Performance and rewards standard chattered bank, Chennai were honoured with Best Alumnae Award.
The special invitees, Ms Geetha Nagu, Ms L N Revathy, Ms T Radhika and Ms Vidhya Bhojan delivered the acceptance speech and they advised women not to quit and develop the skill of multitasking.
Ms N Harini, Second Year Biotech Student, NCC Cadet Under Officer was honoured with a shawl and certificate for participating in the 71s Republic Day Rajpath Parade 2020 held at the Rajpath, Delhi as a tribute to India.
Dr A Bharathi, Coordinator, WDC, proposed the vote of thanks, she insisted on empowering children casting off differences among them.
Celebrated with great zeal, the event featured with cultural programmes by the students.
The session was a thorough learning experience for everyone presented over there.
